Kupala University students became winners of the International ecological Olympiad of Universities of the CIS countries

The team of the faculty of biology and ecology “GreenSun” took part in the Republican tour of the eleventh International Ecological Olympiad of Universities of the CIS countries and won the “Best team’s visiting card” and placed third as a result of theoretical and practical stages. Nine leading universities in all took part in the tour.
The Olympiad took place in the International Sakharov Environmental Institute of Belarusian State University in Minsk in Online mod. Its program is dedicated to consider ecological threats in modern society and possible ways and means to diminish ecological risks.
Our university was represented by Yaroslava Sapach, a master student of the specialty "Ecology" and 4th year students of the specialty "Bioecology" Andrei Kokhanovsky, Karolina Sanyuk, Anastasia Makei, Alena Amshey, under the guidance of Associate Professor of the Department of Ecology Tatyana Marchik.
The Olympiad itself contained the team’s visiting card, theoretical and practical parts. The theoretical part had four sets of various tasks regarding ecological surveillance, concept of sustainable development, energy security and the influence of the environment on human health.
In practical part the team of biology and ecology students was defending their project “The influence of motor transport on the ecology of the city” including the development of environmental measures with economic calculations of their effectiveness.
