National Unity Day
On National Unity Day (17/09/2022) volunteers representing the “From heart to heart” project (Belarusian State Academy of Muisic) cooperated with the “Warming hearts with music” volunteers (same academy) and the volunteer group of the creative studio "Lisya Nora" (Fox Den) from agricultural city Rakov, in order to congratulate kids from the children's social shelter of the State Educational Institution "Social and Pedagogical Center of the Moskovsky District of Minsk". The event was attended by foreign students of the Academy of Music: a student of the vocal and choral faculty Ren Boyu and a graduate student Wang Yuanhan. Now, let's go through history.
Proposals to establish this holiday were made at the VI All-Belarusian National Assembly. On this particular day, September 17,1939, the Polish campaign of the Red Army began, as a result the reunification of Western Belarus and the BSSR took place. This day became an act of historical justice towards Belarusian people, divided against their will in 1921 under the terms of the Riga Peace Treaty, and forever entrenched in the national historical tradition. President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko supported the initiative and signed on June 7, 2021 the corresponding decree No. 206 on the establishment of a new public holiday.
The unity restored in 1939 allowed Belarus to endure during the Great Patriotic War, take an honorable place in the international community, and become one of the co-founders of the United Nations.
The Belarusian people are united in choosing a strategic course for the development of a strong, sovereign and prosperous country. The establishment of the National Unity Day on September 17 emphasizes the continuity of generations, the inviolability and self-sufficiency of the Belarusian nation and statehood.
Our country has everything necessary for a peaceful life: work, social support, free medicine and education, conditions have been created for the realization of the scientific and creative potential of active youth.
Citizens of the Republic of Belarus are united by a sincere concern for the fate of their native country, a desire to keep it independent, united and peaceful. This task is of particular importance in the context of globalization processes, clash of interests of major world players, ongoing information wars, economic, political and social challenges of our time.
The exposition includes more than 50 documents: books, encyclopedic and reference publications, conference proceedings, textbooks, periodicals, musical instruments. Particularly noteworthy are the author's manuscripts of musical works by composers P. Podkovyrov, E. Tikotsky, N. Churkin, written for the historical event of the reunification of the Belarusian people on September 17, 1939.
