Rafting on the Svisloch river for Chinese students

19 July 2021

As part of the events of the BSPU Summer School, a kayak rafting on the Svisloch River, organized by the Department of Foreign Languages for students from China studying at BSPU took place on July 8, 2021.
The rafting tour was included in the cycle of events of the Program of the BSPU’s Faculty of Philology called “Dialogue of cultures”. This program’s major goal is to help foreign students to adapt in the cultural and educational sphere of Belarus.
Our Chinese students were accompanied by the head of the Department of Foreign languages Olga Yurievna Shimanskaya and senior lecturer Lu Jing in their trip on the scenic rote which runs through Loshitsky Park.
After gaining basic skills of kayak control, the participants enjoyed fascinating views of belarussian nature, saw a dilapidated building of the red water mil, and distillery built in the end of the 19th century and a “wedding oak” in the canopy of which people used to give oaths of allegiance to each other in old days. On the way, the kayakers met a gray mallard, a coot and even a beaver.
Thanks to the teachers students learned about the names of birds and animals and belarussian culture and history.
