The Baranavichy State University Educational Institution (BarSU) is a modern multidisciplinary educational center with a well-developed infrastructure and modern material and technical base. The University is an important regional institution that unites educational, scientific, innovative, international, cultural and social activities.

The city of Baranovichi is the industrial and cultural center of the Republic of Belarus

Baranovichi is a dynamically developing city, one of the largest industrial, cultural and educational centers of the Republic of Belarus. Located in the southwestern part of the country, the city plays an important role in the socio-economic development of the region.

Historical background. The foundation of the city is connected with the construction of the Moscow-Brest railway. Initially, a railway station was built on the site of the modern city, which was commissioned on November 28, 1871 — this date is officially considered the birthday of the Baranovichi. The station got its name from a nearby village, and subsequently an urban center began to form around it.

Demographics. Today, Baranovichi occupies the eighth place in the country in terms of population. About 175 thousand people live in the city, of which more than 30 thousand are young people. This makes the city not only a large settlement, but also an important platform for the development of youth initiatives, education and innovation.

Economics and industry. Baranovichi is one of the leading industrial hubs in Belarus. There are more than 195 industrial enterprises operating in the city, including 27 large-scale industries covering mechanical engineering, textile, food, construction and other industries. The spheres of trade, consumer services and small business are actively developing, which contributes to sustainable economic growth and the creation of new jobs.

International cooperation. The city is actively involved in the international twinning movement. To date, Baranovichi has established partnerships with 23 cities from 13 countries, including Russia, Austria, Bulgaria, Lithuania, Italy, Sweden and China. These ties contribute to the development of cultural exchange, educational programs and joint economic projects.

Openness and hospitality. Baranovichi is a city open to cooperation, investments and new ideas. They appreciate initiative, support development, and welcome guests, partners, and friends from all over the world.

BarSU continues to move forward confidently, which is confirmed by the university's position in reputable international rankings evaluating the presence of universities in the digital space and their scientific activities.

Webometrics Ranking of World Universities

The rating is calculated by the Cybermetrics research group of the National Research Council of Spain and is published every six months. It analyzes the presence of universities on the Internet and scientific publications based on three indicators: influence (the weight of external links to the site is 50%), openness (the citation of authors according to Google Scholar is 10%) and the quality of publications (the share of works in the top 10% of the most cited according to Scimago is 40%).

According to the latest Webometrics data, BarSU has improved its position: in January 2026, the university ranked 19th in Belarus and 7,415 in the world, while in July 2025, the figures were 20th and 7,587, respectively.

4 International Colleges & Universities (4icu)

This rating evaluates the popularity and website traffic of 13,000 universities and colleges from 200 countries. It is published every six months based on the popularity of pages on Google, traffic according to Alexa Traffic Rank and the number of links from the Majestic SEO database.

According to 4icu, in July 2025, BarGU was ranked 17th in Belarus and 6,393rd in the world. For comparison, in August 2024, these figures were 15th and 5,956th, respectively.

THE MAIN ACHIEVEMENTS OF BarSU IN 2025:

The training of students in the bachelor's degree programs "Primary education" and "Education in the field of physical culture" has begun in correspondence education in a shortened period.
The implementation of an experimental curriculum for the bachelor's degree in Electronic Economics for full-time foreign citizens has begun.
Passed the state accreditation in the specialty of retraining "Health-improving physical culture".
A branch of the Department of Technology and Equipment of Mechanical Engineering was established on the basis of JSC 558 Aviation Repair Plant.
The Coordinating Council for System Interaction with organizations that order personnel has begun to function.
The university's teams carried out 7 scientific projects within the framework of the tasks of the State Program of Scientific Research and the Belarusian Republican Foundation for Basic Research.
5 youth projects of university students were presented at the selection stage of the Republican Youth project "100 Ideas for Belarus" by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus.
A solemn presentation of the book "Our President" took place with the participation of the authors A.M.Radkov, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor, Honored Scientist, and A.N.Karlyukevich, director of the Publishing House "Belarus", chairman of the NGO "Union of Writers of Belarus".
An agreement on cooperation between BarSU and Brest Scientific and Technological Park CJSC has been signed.
4 series (8 journals) of the scientific and practical journal "Bulletin of BarSU" have been published.
New functional modules have been created for the specialized BarSU Digital University platform.
The University has held a series of events "The Great Victory" dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War.
The diploma of the laureate of the national award "Patriot-2024" in the nomination "Union State" was awarded to Baranovichi State University for the project "I say YES!" (Moscow).
Maria Morozova, a student of the first degree, was awarded a diploma for her victory at the III Russian-Belarusian Student Media Forum "Media Industry".
Anna Kaley, a student of the 3rd degree, was awarded a diploma for her victory at the III Russian-Belarusian Student Media Forum "Media Industry".
The diploma of the II degree was awarded to students Karina Kachanovskaya and Ksenia Gvozdovskaya for the excursion route "Memory frozen in stone ..." of the IV Republican online competition of excursion and local history presentations "Lands of the homeland corner".
Brezin Tikhon, a student of the Faculty of Engineering (Yekaterinburg), was awarded the diploma of the first degree laureate in the nomination "Lines scorched by War" of the International Online Festival-competition of the artistic word "I am a piece of Russia".
Karina Anatolyevna Lubeshko, software engineer of the Information Technology Department, was awarded the diploma of the winner of the republican contest of young workers of enterprises, organizations and institutions of the Republic of Belarus "SiregPROFI–2025" in the nomination "SiregPROFI in the field of communications and informatization".
The diploma of the III degree of the republican competition for the best student dormitory was awarded to the primary trade union organization of the educational institution "Baranovichi State University".
Alekseyevich Egor, a student of the Faculty of Pedagogy and Psychology, was awarded a diploma of the III degree for winning the All-Belarusian Leadership Olympiad in the category "Students of higher educational institutions of pedagogical profile".
The diploma of the II degree of the Main Directorate for Education of the Brest Regional Executive Committee was awarded to the People's Fashion Theater "Svita" of the BarSU Department of Culture and Creativity (head M.V. Lukashevich) for winning the VI open regional competition of theatrical creativity "ONLINE THEATER".
Valery Gorokhovsky, a student, was awarded the diploma of the III degree of the patriotic song contest "Reserved Melody", organized by the Brest regional organization of the Republican Public Association "Belaya Rus", in the nomination "Song of my Soul".Polina Maksimovich, a student of the Linguistic Faculty, became a finalist in the republican contest "Student of the Year of the Republic of Belarus-2025".
The University hosted the II Republican forum "360° Trade Union" of the Belarusian Professional Union of Education and Science Workers.
A Friendship Garden has been laid on the university's territory with the participation of a car rally delegation from Tambov State Technical University.
The team of the Faculty of Engineering of BarSU "MetaMakers" presented a project dedicated to the creation of a historical model of the legendary Brest Fortress, and won the 2nd place in the International Additive Technologies Championship "3D-pro-2025" (Moscow).
