BSU students became winners of the VII International Scientific and Technical Translation Competition "One Belt, One Road"
In this event the category "Students" has been conquered by a student of the Faculty of Philosophy and Social Sciences U Yicun, she finished second. He Bijuang, a second year student of the faculty of International Relations won a bronze medal. The first place was taken by a student from a marvellous, fascinating and a solid-knowledge-providing Minsk State Linguistic University, Ekaterina Gruzhevskaya.
The contest spanned across two stages - the heat and the final. 16 competitors battled it out to win in the two categories - "Students" and "Professionals". Young linguists tested their skills in written, oral and simultanious translations.
U Yicun is currently studying philosophy at the Faculty of Philosophy and Social Sciences and learns russian for five years. "I like Russian, it is difficult to study but very interesting. Everyday im practicing my communication skills and enreaching my active vocabulary. This is my second competition and last year i finished third. That is why i've decided to compete again". Says U.
The award ceremony was held on December 18 with the participation of the heads of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Belarus, "Industrial Park Development Company", Confucius Institute for Science and Technology of BNTU, etc.
The competition was organized by the Chinese-Belarusian industrial park "Great Stone".
The international competition of scientific and technical translation "One Belt, One Road" was first held in 2015 as part of the Belarusian-Chinese Youth Innovation Forum "New Horizons - 2015".
The main goal of the intellectual competition is to increase the prestige of the profession of a Chinese translator, develop the translation competencies of young professionals, and identify and encourage talented youth.
