Teachers of the Faculty of Chemistry of the Belarusian State University will teach undergraduates of the Lomonosov Moscow State University

23 November 2022
Teachers of the Faculty of Chemistry of BSU will train undergraduates of Moscow State University in the field of nuclear waste management. This will be possible thanks to the opening of a network master's program "Master in Spent Nuclear Fuel Management" at the Faculty of Chemistry of Moscow State University. It is being implemented jointly with the State Atomic Energy Corporation "Rosatom" with the participation of the Faculty of Chemistry of the Belarusian State University. The program is built on a modular basis, where BSU is responsible for the course "Water Treatment in Nuclear Energy". It includes the disciplines "Water treatment in nuclear power" with a laboratory workshop, "Radiation chemistry of water and aqueous solutions", "Chemical and radiochemical control in the organization of the water-chemical regime of nuclear power plants." It is assumed that BSU undergraduates will also be able to study under the master's program.
The intention to create a program is stipulated by a framework agreement on strategic cooperation and interaction in the field of science, education and training between the chemical faculties of the two universities. The document was signed by BSU Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs and Internationalization of Education Konstantin Kozadaev and Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry of Moscow State University, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Stepan Kalmykov. The ceremony was held on November 22 as part of the XII ATOMEXPO International Forum in Sochi (Russia).
It is assumed that this agreement will generally contribute to the expansion and strengthening of cooperation between the two universities in the field of science and education, the joint development of relevant scientific research, the introduction of scientific and technological achievements into production, the provision of scientific, technical, and qualification assistance in training personnel for the chemical industry.
In particular, the parties will intensify cooperation in the field of improving the system of training chemists for scientific, educational, and innovative activities. The achievement of a qualitatively new, innovative level of education of students and graduate students will be carried out in the process of involving them in scientific research in relevant areas of knowledge.
The document also provides for the implementation of joint projects in the scientific field, the development of publishing partnerships, the exchange of information between students, researchers, and teachers.
The plans of the faculties include the joint organization of conferences, exhibitions, seminars, symposiums and other events in various fields. The document prescribes the implementation of joint courses and curricula, participation in international and national competitions for grants, interaction in the field of scientific management of undergraduates and graduate students.
