Employees of the Belarusian State University received honorary awards of the International Collegiate Programming Contest
Honorary awards of the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) were awarded to employees of BSU. Vladimir Kotov, Head of the Department of Discrete Mathematics and Algorithms of the FPMI, was awarded a special cup. This award confirms the high level of preparation of students for the international competition. Also, its award is a recognition of merit and a sign of respect from the entire ICPC community to Vladimir Kotov. By the way, he led BSU student teams to the championship final a total 20 times.
In addition, Aleksey Tolstikov, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Computational Mathematics of the FPMI, was awarded a special cup for the five-year preparation of students for the ICPC. On account of his five teams-finalists of the championship.
It should be reminded that for more than 20 years of participation in the World Programming Championship, BSU students have won gold, three silver and bronze medals. In addition, since 1998, the leading university has been the organizer of the regional qualifying quarter-final competitions of the championship.
The award ceremony for BSU employees took place on November 8 as part of the 45th final of the tournament, which is taking place these days in Dhaka (Bangladesh). The honorary awards were presented by ICPC Executive Director Jeff Donahue.
It should be noted that Belarus this year in the final is represented by three teams: BSU, BSUIR and BNTU. The BSU team included fourth-year FPMI students Aleksey Filinovich, undergraduates Efim Klimashensky and Anton Paliukhovich. The winners of the competition will be determined on November 11.
