An international conference dedicated to the 115th of Academician Konstantin Lukashev will be held at the Belarusian State University
19 December 2022
A two-day international conference "Modern geochemistry, geology problems and prospecting for mineral deposits" is about to begin on December 20 at BSU (Leningradskaya str 16, room#213). It starts at 10.00. The conference is dedicated to 115th anniversary of Konstantin Ignatievich Lukashev who is a renowned Belarusian geographist, academician and BSU's rector from 1952 till 1957. The forum is scheduled to be online. The event will be attended by more than 100 participants, among whom are: experts, scientists, teachers and students all from Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Poland and Germany. These participants represent BSU, Tashkent State Technical University, Adam Mickevich University in Poznan etc.
During the plenary session Oleg Lukashev, head of the Regional Geeology department of the faculty of Geography and Geoinformatics will tell us about his great ancestor, Belarusian honored worker of science.
It is also planned to cover two thematic sections: “Regional geology, geochemistry and minerals” and “Engineering geology and hydrogeology”. In this section participants will discuss modern approaches to the creation of educational tectonic maps, new ways of implementing pilot work on the stratification of reservoir rocks of oil fields in the Pripyat trough, methodological techniques for landscape indication and the possibility of their use in engineering and geological surveys, etc. Young scientists of the Faculty of Geography and Geoinformatics, Belarusian State University will perform separately with their scientific materials. Among the announced reports are “Geology of Antarctica”, “Geochemical methods in the search for oil fields”, “Opportunities provided by ArcGis for interpreting the results of studying the geological activity of the rivers of the East European platform and adjacent territories”, etc.
The result of the conference will be the publication of a collection of scientific reports with subsequent placement in the Digital Library of the Belarusian State University.
The event is organized by the Faculty of Geography and Geoinformatics.

Konstantin Ignatievich Lukashev (1907 - 1987) - is an Academician of the Academy of Science of the Belarusian Soviet Socialistic Republic (1953), he had a PhD in geological and minerological sciences (1937), he was also an Honored Scientist of the BSSR (1967), laureate of the State Prize of the BSSR (1972).
In his scientific works he dealt with the problems of soil science, physical and economic geography, Quaternary geology and geochemistry, rational use and environmental protection. For the discovery and exploration of large oil fields in the Pripyat oil and gas region, he was awarded the State Prize of the BSSR (1972). Using the example of Belarus and other regions, the scientist developed the scientific foundations for protecting the environment and the biosphere. Under his leadership, the first long-term forecast of environmental changes under the influence of technogenesis in the last quarter of the 20th century was created in the history of the republic. He also wrote more than 500 scientific papers.
