The cabinet of comparative study of Chinese and Belarusian traditional folk cultures will be opened at BSU
The cabinet of comparative study of Chinese and Belarusian traditional folk cultures will be opened on 2 February at BSU (20 Dolgobrodskaya Street, 6th floor). The beginning is at 14.00. The symbolic ribbon will be cut by the First Vice-Rector of the university Dzmitry Kurlovich, the director of the Center for Chinese Culture in Minsk Jia Wei and the dean of the Faculty of Philology Sergey Vazhnik. The honorary guests of the ceremony will be Zhang Aihei, the adviser to the Chinese Embassy in Belarus, Wang Xiaomeng, the Chairman of the Association of Chinese Compatriots' Organizations «Huaqiao», the leadership of BSU, etc.
The cabinet will become a unique platform for the development of scientific cooperation between scientists, teachers and students of the two countries. In particular, we are talking about conducting joint research in the field of culture and folklore of Belarus and China. By the way, a team has already been formed to work on the creation of an electronic anthology on the folklore of Belarus in Belarusian and Chinese.
The new auditorium is multifunctional and equipped with modern multimedia devices. There is also thematic literature in Belarusian, Chinese and English, and a fund of audio and video materials dedicated to the culture of the two countries. It is noteworthy that there is a documentary film «Belarus through the eyes of the Chinese». It was filmed by Zhang Hongshan, an associate professor of the Department of Chinese Philology at the Faculty of Philology of BSU. The tape is a video dedicated to the sights of the Belarusian land. There are also unique items in the study, including a silk canvas depicting folklore rituals and features of the Beijing region, authentic types of Belarusian and Chinese embroidery, national clothes, exhibits representing the life and crafts of the two peoples.
Irina Kazakova, a professor of the Department of the History of Belarusian Literature of BSU, and Zhang Hongshan will supervise the work of the cabinet.
On the opening day of the office, a cultural program was prepared for the guests. They will hear the musical compositions of the master of the game on the national Chinese instrument guzheng. Master classes on calligraphy and making cornflowers will be held, a real tea ceremony and tasting of Chinese and Belarusian cuisine will be held.
The event is organized by the Faculty of Philology of BSU.
