The official visit was wrapped up with a ceremonial event which celebrated Ihar Voitau, BSTU Rector, as a Professor Emeritus of Tashkent State Technical University named after Islam Karimov. Ihar Voitau was awarded this honorary title for his outstanding contribution to the development of education and research, support of technological development and commercialization programs, promotion of youth dialogue, friendship and collaboration between Belarusian and Uzbek universities. BSTU Rector addressed the academic community of Tashkent State Technical University saying ‘I am both ‘extremely grateful and proud of the high title awarded to me’. The cooperation between Belarusian State Technological University and Tashkent State Technical University named after Islam Karimov dates back to 2018 when a bilateral Cooperation for Double-Degree Programs in Biotechnology, Automation of Technological Processes and Production, Information Systems and Technologies was signed. Since then, many young highly employable professionals have been trained. Over 100 students are currently enrolled in BSTU-TSTU double-degree programs. Our universities also have extensive research collaboration, one of the most successful projects being dedicated to the development of wound-healing substances containing herbal flavonoids. BSTU and TSTU have joined their efforts to find and define flavonoid-rich herbal plants growing in Uzbekistan in order to create medicines with wound healing activity. We intend to build upon our existing partnership and strengthen our collaborative ties through other mutually beneficial and enriching activities. One of the most promising areas of cooperation is creation of new double-degree programs at bachelor (Industrial Design) and master (Automation, Biotechnological Pharmaceutical Industries, Information Management Systems) levels.
BSTU delegation also visited Fergana Polytechnic Institute to discuss prospective double-degree programs in chemical (petrochemical) technology, building materials technology, machines and apparatus of chemical industry, automation, management, information technology.
