On April 28, a delegation from the Republic of Cuba arrived at the Belarusian National Technical University. The purpose of the visit was to learn about the activities of the university, as well as to discuss promising areas for the development of cooperation.
The delegation included:
• Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to the Republic of Belarus Santiago Perez Benitez;
• Trade and Economic Adviser of the Embassy of the Republic of Cuba in the Republic of Belarus Mario Leonides Moreno Aguilera;
• Deputy Minister of Science, Technology and Environment of the Republic of Cuba, Armando Rodríguez Batista;
• Deputy Head of the Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment of the Republic of Cuba, Carlos Alberto Mendez Garcia;
• Representative of the Minister of Science, Technology and Environment of the Republic of Cuba in the Province of Sancti Spiritus, Leonel Diaz Camero;
• Vice-President of the Cuban Academy of Sciences, Carlos de Jesús Rodriguez Castellanos;
• Vice-Rector for Research and Postgraduate Studies of the University of Havana Madai Alonso;
• First Vice-Rector of the Technological University of Havana José Antonio Echeverria Marta Dunia Delgado la Pena;
• Director General for Research and Postgraduate Studies of the Ministry of Higher Education of the Republic of Cuba Ondina Leon Diaz;
• Head of Department, Central University of Las Villas Angel Silvio Machado Rodriguez;
• Director of Science, Technology and Environment, Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Cuba, Telse Abdel González Morera;
• Director of GEOCUBA - GEOCUBA group of companies Pedro Martinez Fernandez;
• Deputy Director of GEOCUBA - GEOCUBA group of companies Sergio Ricardo Desdin;
• Director of Science at Biocubafarma Rolando Perez Rodriguez;
• Head of the incubator of the electronics group of the Ministry of Industry of the Republic of Cuba, Darien Pina Sanchez.
Before proceeding to a direct discussion of cooperation plans, the guests had a tour of the exhibition hall of the Scientific and Technological Park of BNTU "Polytechnic". Director of POLYMEDTECH LLC Dmitry Markin demonstrated the first developments and latest achievements to the representatives of the delegation, revealed the scientific and innovative potential of BNTU and the production capabilities of the technopark.
After the delegates went to the main building of the BNTU for negotiations and discussion of the most promising areas of future cooperation. Here the guests were met by BNTU Rector Sergey Kharitonchik, First Vice-Rector Georgy Vershina, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Oleg Gusev, Head of the Marketing Department Ksenia Yakushenko, Dean of the Faculty of Information Technology and Robotics Andrey Avsievich, Acting Dean of the Faculty of International Cooperation Nikolai Vishnyakov, Dean of the Faculty of Instrumentation Alexander Svistun, director of the branch of BNTU "Research Polytechnic Institute" Viktor Trepachko, dean of the Faculty of Mechanics and Technology Igor Ivanov.
Oksana Korolko, Senior Lecturer of the Foreign Languages Department of the Faculty of Management Technologies and Humanitarian Studies acted as a translator from Spanish.
During the discussion, the parties discussed in more detail the creation of joint educational programs, the idea of remote exchange of experience using video communication platforms, as well as the main ways to implement these forms of cooperation.
At the end of the meeting, a cooperation agreement was signed between the Belarusian National Technical University and the Technological University of Havana named after José Antonio Echiverria.
