A delegation from the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology of the United Republic of Tanzania visits BSU

The delegation was led by Minister Adolf Mkenda. The meeting took place August 5, and the BSU side was represented by Dzmitry Kurlovich, First Vice-Rector of BSU, and Alesia Prakharenka, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs and Educational Innovations. Other participants included Larisa Tsialitsa, Vice Head of the Department of International Relations; Vital Sakhvon, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Biology; and Ratmir Grishchenko, Chief Specialist at the Centre for International Relations of the Ministry of Education of Belarus.

The visit aimed to develop bilateral cooperation in education and science. To explore potential partnerships, the delegation learned about BSU’s institutional structure, traditions, and competitive advantages. Dzmitry Kurlovich highlighted the university’s history, global ranking positions, research potential, and key innovations. He placed particular emphasis on expanding partnerships with African nations and attracting talented students from the region. Currently, more than 80 African students from countries including Ghana, Cameroon, and Equatorial Guinea study at BSU. The first vice-rector noted that BSU prioritizes the study of African culture and traditions, pointing to the 2025 launch of a new 'African Studies' degree program at the Faculty of International Relations.

In turn, Adolf Mkenda expressed strong interest from Tanzanian universities in collaborating with BSU, particularly in artificial intelligence, information technology, biomedicine, and mechanics. Lecturer and student exchanges, alongside joint research projects, were highlighted as the most promising avenues for this partnership.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties agreed to develop the discussed proposals for future implementation.
